Having been homeless for three years, i do not see any grant and perdiem programs in the OKC area at all. This would help those with sobriety get into temporary housing for two years.

Good morning, Mr. Hites. Thank you very much helping us identify ways to serve Oklahomans experiencing homelessness. It is greatly appreciated. There are now two G&PD programs in OKC: Phoenix House (405-525-0201) and Serenity House (405-557-0600). Also, Joshua De Bartolo, a housing navigator at the OK Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, may be able to provide assistance. He can be reached at 405-227-9429 or Joshua.DeBartolo@odmhsas.org. For additional resources, please feel free to contact Rebekah Zahn at 405-815-5373 or Rebekah.Zahn@okcommerce.gov.

I discharge from prison July of 2016. DOC discharged me to a bridge. I couldn't find work which meant I couldn't find housing plus finding housing is as hard as finding a job. I went to the VA they said they couldn't help me. The VA directed me to the Mental Heath Association, these people are awesome. They got me housing not over night but that was ok I survived without breaking the law or going back to prison. Oklahoma claims to respect their Veterans but I don't see it that way. Once you get a felony your up a creek with out a paddle. Plus if you serve in the Oklahoma Army National Guard the VA has nothing for you. For a year or so I felt totally hopeless with job interview after job interview and rejection after rejection. I thought suicide was my only hope but the Mental Health Association rode with me walking with me through every step of the process until I was in housing. With out them I wouldn't be writing this today.
